Adi Dunlop’s 1997 ‘beanie party’ continues to inspire from Alana Valentine’s inspirational play A Head Full of Love to the Ipswich Beanie Project.

The Alice Springs Beanie Festival began as a community event to sell crocheted beanies created by women in remote Aboriginal communities. A selection of these wondrous creations form a travelling exhibition on display at the Ipswich Art Gallery until October 7.

Kyla D’Aubbonnett and Rebecca Lewis from Cultiver Indie Arts and Design have collected design ideas for an Ipswich beanie which will be entered in the 2013 Alice Springs Beanie Festival.

Ipswich Art Gallery said The Ipswich Beanie will be unveiled at the gallery in early October and will remain on display until Sunday 28 October 2012.
