The Odditoreum, a collaboration between author Shaun Tan and Powerhouse Museum (Sydney), is open to the curious at State Library Queensland.
Shaun Tan was invited to be guest curator for items from the Powerhouse collection. Shaun’s fanciful notes are side-by-side with notes of fantasy from children. You, too, can add yours. Before you leave, you can read the facts about the objects.
Queensland storytellers have worked with Tasmanian Museum and Arts Gallery (2008) and Brisbane City Council (2009) with improvised oral stories on collection items before the curator unveiled the true provenance.
Be curious. Be imaginative. It’s a world of wonder.
Oral storytelling (think Uncle Remus, Billy Connolly, Scheherazade) is a living artform: www.qldstorytelling.blogspot.com
